Watch his video for the theme song of the show Ugly Betty, "The Beauty in Ugly". It's supposed to be a song for a campaign entitled "Be Ugly '07" Trust Jason to support things like that. So inspiring!
launched by the ABC hit sitcom “Ugly Betty.” “Beauty In The Ugly” is a revamp of an old song that Mraz used to play live but was never formally released. The upbeat anthem tells ordinary girls to “own your name and stand up tall.”
Mraz says he was inspired to write the song after seeing so many girls at concerts and knowing so many women who “leave a trail of beauty magazines everywhere we go” – magazines that promote only one standardized version of what is considered beautiful.
It’s something Mraz himself isn’t immune to either.
“Image becomes a pressure on an artist and it certainly has for me,” he admits. “I just want to write songs and tell these stories and I just want to sing… but you have to make appearances and do videos. It’s so weird.”
The lyrics: She’s so big hearted But not so remarkable Just an ordinary humble girl Expecting nothing as we’re made to think It’s a pretty person’s world
But you are beautiful And you better go show it So go look again You gotta be true to your own If you really wanna go to the top Do you really wanna win Don’t believe in living normal Just to satisfy demand
Well if you wanna get free And if you wanna do the passionate thing And if you wanna get smart For the sake of your heart and all You should own your name And stand up tall and get real And see the beauty in ugly
Well you are fresh
Your face is fabulous Don’t forget you’re one of a kind When nobody’s checking the deeds you’ve done And nobody’s hearing your cries You make all the fashion statements Just by dressing up your mind
And if you wanna get free And if you wanna do the passionate thing And if you wanna get smart For the sake of your heart and all You should own your name And stand up tall and get real And see the beauty in ugly See the beauty in ugly
Well if you wanna get free And if you wanna do the passionate thing And if you wanna get smart For the sake of your heart and all You should own your name And stand up tall and get real And see the beauty in ugly
AND SEE THE BEAUTY IN UGLY!
Have a GRE-EAT week ahead! Happy studying and catching up on work, people! :)
You want some health advice to keep you going? hehe, YH says: 1) Drink lots of water, hydratehydratehydrate! Also prevents headaches.(we are especially susceptible to headches when we are stressed!) 1 1/2- don't be stressed. As L says, only impedes your progress. Also, in more technical terms, it impedes your vision. Your mind won;t be able to focus on reading your books and notes. It's so TRUE! Happened to me 2 days ago...
2) Eat losts of chicken. Chicken is the only meat around which has a kind of protein which can prevent flu.
3) Eat mint sweets to keep you alert when you're studying. Menthol alerts your mind. I recommend Hudson's red sweets, Eumenthol. And it only goes at $1.20 for one whole big friggin pack. Ha. I'm not trying to be a cheapskate here, the sweet is really good! Just don't eat so openly in public? haha...cuz some Secret Society member may mistake you as a member or..even beat you up? haha...
4)Jiggle your legs every now and then, when you're studying at your desk! You don't wanna have the problem of deep vein thrombosis do ya? Or in layman's terms, thick blood clotting...ewww. Office workers face that problem years down the road, for being desk-bound to the computer for long hours...
Stay healthy, and drink lots of Vitamin C if you can! :):)
Oh, and sleep well! Don't be an insomniac ok? Humans need 7 hours of sleep to function well.
