It's a miracle! I'm finally smoothly connected to the internet here in JW library! This whole almost one hour before,I could only connect to some other network called: Hotspot@JMC, instead of the Wireless@SG one.

Connection was damn poor, 31% and slowww..I almost wanted to give up and make my way to Jurong Regional Library instead but wanted to try connecting to the Wireless@SG network one more last time and Hallelujah! My short plea to God worked! It really is a miracle indeeeed!

Thank you Lord!

Now I can go on with my work: proof-reading my group's English report, doing my Korean homework, writing my Sociology essay and starting on my New Media project research!

It's good to be thankful when things go your way...hahah =)=):)

To me, Green simply means a very cool and pleasant colour!

You want some health advice to keep you going? hehe, YH says:
1) Drink lots of water, hydratehydratehydrate! Also prevents headaches.(we are especially susceptible to headches when we are stressed!)
1 1/2- don't be stressed. As L says, only impedes your progress. Also, in more technical terms, it impedes your vision. Your mind won;t be able to focus on reading your books and notes. It's so TRUE! Happened to me 2 days ago...

2) Eat losts of chicken. Chicken is the only meat around which has a kind of protein which can prevent flu.

3) Eat mint sweets to keep you alert when you're studying. Menthol alerts your mind. I recommend Hudson's red sweets, Eumenthol. And it only goes at $1.20 for one whole big friggin pack. Ha. I'm not trying to be a cheapskate here, the sweet is really good! Just don't eat so openly in public? haha...cuz some Secret Society member may mistake you as a member or..even beat you up? haha...

4)Jiggle your legs every now and then, when you're studying at your desk! You don't wanna have the problem of deep vein thrombosis do ya? Or in layman's terms,thick blood clotting...ewww. Office workers face that problem years down the road, for being desk-bound to the computer for long hours...

Stay healthy, and drink lots of Vitamin C if you can! :):)

Oh, and sleep well! Don't be an insomniac ok? Humans need 7 hours of sleep to function well.

I've just realised that love is a stupid notion. That is, love between a man and a woman.

What defines love? the physical touch? a sense of connection? ha.

I now am disgusted when I catch myself thinking wistfully at having a boyfriend or thinking lusty thoughts of some cute guy. lol. I mean, seriously, why do people hook up? For the 'physical benefits'. That's the only line that has to be crossed when 2 people of the opposite sex hook up together. It's like, they now have a licence to get touchy-feely and all.

Think about it.

All other 'benefits'(like having meaningful conversations, voicing your fears and aspirations), you can get from your close friends.

Don't cha agree?

Sociology is such a wonderful subject as it makes me ponder on issues like L.O.V.E. and marriage. These are just two of the many long-held institutions of society.

It's time we question things like that.






Lately, I don't know why I've become really sensitive to noise. The slightest raise in volume by anyone or anything would give me a headache. That is why, I've been glaring at many motorcyclists lately. I hate it when they zoom past the roads really loudly like a bloody hooligan. Almost all the male riders remove their bloody mufflers from their motorbikes to sound more 'man' and macho. Bloody hell. Their actions should be a crime man. Noise pollution. Just like those sports car drivers who think they are loud and flashy. Like, what the hell. Who would want to take notice of you people la? You're just bloody annoying all of us. Especially annoying those like me whose home is situated right beside the roadside and who can hear you zooming past in your bloody bikes any time of the day and frekaing night. Go live a proper more meaningful life man, u people.

Also, mosquitoes must diee! They're bloodybloody irritating. I get bitten in my own home every day. Especially when it rains the day or night before. I love the trees outside my home windows(they create a nice scenery) but they are also a breeding ground for mosquitoes. So those hairy buggers happily fly into our home to disturb us and attempt a full attack to suck us dry. But, sigh. I've just realised mosquitoes will be with us till the end of days. In fact, I think they will evolve to be super-mosquitoes and be a real pestilance in future. You just wait and see. Don't underestimate these tiny creatures. They can become monsters. They are the only creatures who survived the Ice Age and will survive till the End of Days.

I wish I were as hardy as mosquitoes...:)




Nothing much. Except I tried out an audition for fun this week. Was too super nervous, inexperienced, amateurish and horrible.

And I submitted my English essay two days late. Hope I can score a decent grade. Cuz I have the option of doing it again if I fail terribly or something but I don't wanna redo a 1000-word essay!

I had a nightmare last night…actually, after much tossing and turning in bed, suffering frm a little bit of insomnia, due to a combination of factors. Firstly, that my hanging decorations were making a helluva noise above me, at my window, thanks to the breeze, Secondly, my neighbour’s mad poodle was barking incessantly, thirdly, the room felt kind of stuffy and fourthly, my mind was very unsettled by the news of L and her new bf. Not specifically that, but because of a whole host of other feelings I had about this…confused, puzzled, a little shocked, and…betrayed, to name a few.

Anyway, my nightmare was like this: My family was gathered around the dining table and seriously telling my aunt that she has a mental problem and that we would check her in to a mental institution anytime soon. She was really emotional breaking down into tears and covered her face with one hand and I felt very bad for her. Suddenly, she removed her hand and looked up with evil, possessed eyes. Then I felt that evil thing engulf me and I woke up, literally gasping with shock and fear. My eyes snapped open and I jerked a little off my bed as I awoke and realized this nightmare felt a little too real for my being…

Anyway, as it goes and Monday unfolds, my mum gave $4 to my aunt to go out and buy her breakfast (since we ran out of bread, which has been her daily breakfast), after confirming that she knew how to find her way back to our home. My aunt lucidly and clearly said “yes, yes” and that she “knows”, nodding her head firmly and looking at us with bright, clear eyes. No blur expressions, no vague answers. The money was handed over to her, my aunt grabbed her jacket and eagerly passed through the open door and she was gone. 1, 11/2 hour passes and she still hasn’t returned. When I eventually left for school and came back at 8pm, she had still not returned. It’s now 1am as I’m typing this blog entry and she still has not returned.

My family helplessly accept this as normal and inevitable. What she is doing, what she is thinking, no one knows, but we know she is out in the streets. Perhaps wandering aimlessly, perhaps chatting up strangers, perhaps lying on the cold pavement or some corridor right this moment…

Aunty, please come back, find your way home. Your home is here. Why do you not accept it? You are too old to live freely as the wind and wildly as an alley cat..

Come home.

For my Korean lesson last night, learnt

Yesterday for my Lit lecture, we watched a documentary on how big media companies keep up with teenagers’ cultures and trends. How MTV tries to continually find for the next cool thing to give to teens. So they got inspiration from metal rap bands such as Insane Clown Posse, Nine Inch Nails and Limp Bizkit, all of which were underground bands, before they were discovered by record labels and promoted on MTV to the masses, thus, becoming not so cool after being mainstreamed. Metal rap bands are like CRAZY. They have all these angry lyrics, crazy hairstyles and garish makeups, and many teens out there identify with them just because they are not mainstream and that not many people know about them yet. It’s like, nobody knows their songs so you feel special if you know about them. Like, compare them to Hoobastank for example, personally I felt that their hit song “The Reason” was waaay too overplayed on the radio. Everyone loved that song. Maybe too much And then suddenly I realized the song wasn’t hip to me already…the same goes for Avril Lavigne. I thought she was unique because of her original punk look, and she always insisted to be self-styled. Hell, she was such a phenomenon that she is even mentioned in my Sociology textbook. And because her poppy songs were wildly received by the masses, she didn’t seem so cool to me after that. You know what I’m saying?

Anyway, it goes on to talk about how MTV’s other shows catered to the masses, shows such as Jackass, The Tom Green Show, The Howard Stern Show and Spring Break. And even WWE. All these shows are like outrageous. Jackass and Tom Green do crazy stunts and cause social havoc-they called themselves mooks. M.oo.K.s! I think it's so...retarded! Howard Stern has naked girls on his show all the time and he has them do things like massage him while he’s lying down on the floor. He is a guy whom many teens look up to. Man. He has also become a phenomenon, releasing his own book and having more control over his show. That guy was the one who had actor Wilma Valderrama on his show and where Wilma talked about his trysts with actress Lindsay Lohan and then-virgin singer and actress Mandy Moore. Moving on to Spring Break, it’s a show where college students graduate or something and how they spend their holidays celebrating, with girls dancing like whores with guys, and all of them covered only in whipped cream. And they show this on TV. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? I wonder if youtube has that show….u gotta see it to believe it. I’m so disgusted by all these behaviours of American teens and treating sex lightly and having sex like rabbits do. I'm not a prude. whatever. I just think it's ammoral.

Which got me thinking to Laguna Beach! I had just bought the VCD recently. Its tagline is “The real OC”, chronicling the lives of high school and college students living in Laguna Beach, an area in America. Man! I now fully realize all that drama in LB is probably contrived and hammed up for the cameras. Teens don’t just hook up and break up and have catfights like nobody’s business. I mean, I know reality shows are edited and all but what is actually reality means hamming it up for the freaking camera in font of you! big time.

AND MOVING ON TO WWE, WHAT’S UP WITH THAT FREAKING WRESTLING SHOW? Tons of guys including my two brothers enjoy that show and relish every moment. God, I think it’s like, a macho-male testosterone kind of effect.

So yeah, these kind of shows mentioned above are what teenagers are attracted to, and they think it’s cool and try to emulate these characters. Furthermore, teens who are filmed and featured in these shows like Spring Break totally ham it up for the cameras by dancing more wildly with guys, more sexily, and then teens watching them would go and copy them and think it’s normal. It’s a vicious cycle. Like who actually defines what is reality and what is actually cool? The camera-whore teens? Or the cameras?

K then after school I went to Mcds with L and we talked a bit about her bro’s results. there were a bunch of Jap boys there and they spoke freaking loud. They don't speak, they SHOUT at one another. It was so crazy. And then there were a couple or two of them androgynous boys who I mistook as girls.

Anyway, L's bro didn't do too well for his As...and then we got to talking abt how RJC students are heck-care when they get 4As and all, and even play cards at the hall after collecting their slips, as reported by The New Paper. As in the words of one RJC student, they have a 'warped sense of success'. It's so sad that they can't be excited and happy for themselves over stuff like that...its so sad to act cool in an environment like that, if you know what I mean...wait till they go NS and experience it for a while then they'll know how to appreciate certain things in life that should be worth appreciating by any normal person,lol...




Right now as I'm writing this post, I'm a freeloader at L's house :P Her internet speed is efficient and there's a good companion friend here to spend my time with. We're both using 2 PCs simultaneously....

What went down today is that I went to school one hour late for my tutorial!! And this tutorial was conducted online...we had to discuss a Toy company's problem for my New Media tutorial, in chat rooms, and as a group write a short report soon after. The purpose of this online simulated and unique tutorial experience is to let us students have a feel as to how companies everywhere now conduct their meetings and discussions once in a while, in chatrooms!

It was a very messy affair! It's like, when you want to present facts- like if your role is a market manager and you wanna present your findings to the rest of your colleagues, you type the facts online in the chatroom....and then with these facts from everyone, you have to write a report....actually, having a simulated workplace meeting discussion online is kind of surreal....like, something important is happening online and you have to pay attention to every line that people type to keep the discussion flowing smoothly....and there is the problem of everyone talking at the same time...give me a conventional meeting anytime...computers and the internet are fast and efficient and all but it is scary to think that normal activities like a meeting can be done online...like, what else can we do next? It's like, terrorists can conduct meetings online even

Anyway, I skipped 2 lectures today, cuz the tutorial cut into my lecture time and as for my 2nd lecture, though the lecturer is animated and all, he is still dry...what's the point of lectures anyway, the speakers are just going through things which can be found in our notes and textbooks.

Then had lunch with L at the jap place at Clementi and she was talking to me abt her ex's ex gf, haha, who hugs her guy friends and this pissed her bf (now ex). I think it's alright to hug your guy friends when you greet them, if they're your good friends especially and if you're used to hugging ppl, u know? It's not about whether its oh, just a culture for westerners like what L was saying...

Anyway, I can't wait till the Taiwan singer Angela Zhang's concert tomorrow! It is held at my school campus and I'd like to see how this popular singer is like and all. And my malay friend is going with me, I'm surprised she's as excited as me, haha
