Wanted a short getaway this weekend to Bali, but all flights onboard the only 2 airlines which flies in, Singapore Airlines & Garuda Airlines- were FULLy booked.
No, I didn't spend the past few days holed up somewhere, frantically trying to finish Harry Potter....although something to do with supernatural (at least, I think) happened to me last night.
I had such a terrible dream last night. It wasn't a nightmare, it was more like a harrowing, dream. Something about a girl who was supposed to be my friend, and she became possessed at night...and we needed to play her a songlist and hold her back, or she'd attack me. My other friends and I were so close to getting her songlist in order when my other friends couldn't restrain her any longer and she did in fact, attacked me, reaching out with both her arms, for my neck. And then I woke up. And felt my chest was numb, like, something had been holding on to it. Suddenly, I realised I was dreaming. But in the dream, it had seemed so real. Two lessons I've learned.
1) never download new songs so late in the night and upload to my Ipod and play it while I'm half-asleep. Cuz on the songlist in my dream, I distinctly saw there were the Rachael Yamagata songs which I had been listening to before I fell asleep.
2) lead a more god-centric life. Cuz I certainly have ignored Him for the past week. feeling so resentful towards my family over certain things and just mindlessly doing 'fun stuff' while ignoring to read the bible and such- basically, I did no devotion time at all.
The dream really woke me up. in both sense. and I spent several minutes praying after that. why do I always have dreams like that? People say dreams are you subconscious putting into perspective your life at present. I thought it was more than that last night.
not only because of the one dream, but others, where something or someone always gets possessed or acts creepy. and it has been...getting more confrontational I realise...well, if indeed, some demon or something was trying to scare me, It did. and it only drew me closer to Him.
I'm not gonna tell my mum about this. I've always told her, maybe I'll do so some time later. Cuz all she can say is, "Why do you always have dreams like that? your mind is weak." stuff like that...and my brothers haven't had these kinds of dreams at all, before. yeah, so I'm a weakling and they are not? my dad has, occasionally(and my mum has her own rational explanation for it) ....and my mum also has other kinds of dreams (which are nightmares, but related to reality). I don't know, but it seems that we become really vulnerable when we are asleep. and if indeed there's another world out there, and if there are bad things, there must be good things too. you know, angels vs demons. yeah.
this morning, picked up where I left off in the bible, and came across these: "Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him." by paths, it probably means how I should lead my life, with God in mind, in whatever I do. and "he will baptize me with the Holy Spirit."
Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." Mark 2:17.
and this, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it."...and then further on, it says, "If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels." in the last paragraph of Mark 8.
In my bible notes, it says the cross is a symbol of our salvation and a symbol of God's will for Jesus. as we know, Jesus had to die on the cross, "For God so loved the world that hegave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
and that MY cross, God's will for my life, is different. 1) I have to deny myself, choose what God wants, not what I want. 2) Take up my cross. do God's will each day. 3) keep on following Jesus. cuz following Jesus will make a difference. the old me will be left behind and i will become a new and beautiful person in Jesus.
Yes, in this world, we need faith. and hope, to know that....someday, evil will not exist anymore. but first, we have to be strong through the trials in our lives, and have God to guide us....which he has so far, in my life....i know that many things that has happened are not just pure luck, coincidence or fate.
In this world right now where, Korean volunteers with good intentions are now hostages in Afghanistan, where taliban terrorists, gangsters, kidnap them on the spur of the moment and assert their power and terror on countries & families...in a world where the husband of your next door neighbour openly has an affair with a fat and ugly lady (if u could call her that, she's more man-ugly), whom he met on the internet and films a sex video of him and her- all while leaving his 3 young kids at home. he openly kisses and oh so lovingly feeds his girl on the bus, on the way back home. My brother saw all this yesterday, on his way home from school...you wonder why life goes on like that...and some things happen to people....they pursue their own interests, wordly pleasures and desires. When they clearly know what they are doing is wrong...well, I'd like to believe they would pay their dues sooner or later.
Until then, I finish off with this, "Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean") Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.' (for example, evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly) -Mark 7:14-23
In the morning, I tried playing a few Jason Mraz songs on my classical guitar...and I really suck. For example, his song Plane only has 4 chords, four entire chords throughout the song: Ebm, F#, B and Bb and I can't switch between them fast enough. Cuz they're like the F chord where your index finger have to press down on all 6 strings on the guitar. I gotta build up my fingering strength. And the plucking and strumming is so difficult to copy from the original!! Argh. Jason like, doesn't strum on that song. He slaps on the chords, so that the sound doesn't ring, it comes out kind of muted. how the fugg does a person do that?? Jason Mraz is too much of a maestro for a novice like me to think of emulating.... :P Though the chords in Mraz's songs are simple enough (for an ok guitar player), the plucking is not. His songs like I'll Do Anything and Dream Life of Rand McNally(Singapore's mentioned!) are my favourites and I really want to learn how to play them.....sighzzz
He is such a genius, look at how he effortlessly plays and sings...
...and rolls his tongue when singing...
So then after lunch, I got down to reading the papers and my neighbours decided at that moment to blast karaoke. My three sets of neighbours, it's like, they were trying to outblast each other. One set were Fillipinos (singing Fillipino retro rock), one set the Chinese Elderly (singing Oriental retro) and the last set was Malay (singing ethnic Malay-ish pop/rock). I think cuz it's Friday, to cause people to relax and chill. "TGIF", they must be thinking, "Let's start partying early." I wanted to plug into my Ipod to tune them out with some Jason Mraz tunes but thankfully, my neighbours didn't last long.
Living in a HDB flat is kind of a nightmare. You experience so many noises and smells everyday. And then there's that small mad dog that lives in the block next door and which barks at 11-12 midnight sporadically. I asked the Town Council office (a short walking distance away) what I and they can do about it and the lady at the counter just said, "If it's a licensed dog, we can't confiscate it. and concerning the noise, that's the matter of the HDB authorities to take care of." I'd love to you know, murder that dog one of these days, and savouringly eat it..Cuz I'm of half Korean blood, I surely can take to dog meat right? ha.
In the papers today are of how the last book of the Harry Potter series is gonna be released tomorrow. When it's 12am in the UK on Saturday, 21 July 2007, it'll be 7am here and that's when the books will start flying off the shelves. You know, I'm not really excited, as in not fanatic about knowing the ending of Harry Potter as soon as I can, but I'd love to catch the action of those fanatics. Bookstores staff will be decked in Potter gear and buyers are encouraged to dress up in potter garb. And since this is the LAST book in the Harry Potter series, I'm sure people will certainly dress as outlandishly or enthusiastically as possible, and it'll probably be my first and only chance to catch people in Potter costumes. I think if these people had their way, they would announce tomorrow as Potter day and walk around in their costumes all day. whatever it is, I wanna take some pictures.
Harry Potter---with its enormous popularity, do u think it encourages magic? Be it positive or evil magic. The papers talked about this recently and it seems that the Wiccans are happy with the Harry Potter phenomenom, of it turning magic into popular culture, along with shows like Charmed.
My old church didn't allow us to keep the book (I had Chamber of Secrets), confiscating it, along with relics which had dragon motifs on them. Of course, Christians disapprove of magic. cuz then it means summoning demons to help you. u know what I mean?
But then again, Harry Potter is fiction. and it has artistic merit. as in, the writer is really good. and I just enjoy it as that. but then again, it's like saying violent movies/video games don't have an effect on me....
ok, also, in other news in the papers, It had some good news for people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS (hint: moi) and constipation.
It seems that if these people take two kiwi fruits a day, their symptoms may be greatly relieved. Researchers at the Taipei Medical University and its School of Nutrition and Health Sciences. They found that the kiwifruit helps improve the digestive process and bowel movements. Kiwifruits also helps you sleep.
Kiwifruit has rich dietary fibre content. For example, every 100g of banana holds 1.5g of fibre while the same amount of kiwifruit holds 3.4g of fibre. and on top of that, kiwifuit contains half the amount of calories.
In Singapore, 1 in 10 suffer from IBS. The majority are women. Common symptoms include bloated stomach and irregular bowel movement which can lead to extreme physical discomfort.
Kiwifruits however, may aggrevate reflux or heartburn if the fruit is sour. Many with IBS also tend to have reflux. Reminds me of Ashlee Simpson. haha
Do u know kiwi also prevents strokes and heart disease? It says so on a page tacked on my wadrobe from a Singapore health magazine Shape, I ripped out of.
Fruits are good! I love fruits and vegetables, haha. There's something so good in just, washing and eating something organic without cooking it.
and someone (Choothomas.com) said there are lots of fruit trees and fishes in heaven.....:)
The new pizza (from Pizza Hut), with three types of cheeses (the bread is made of crispy cheddar, and inside it is Mozzarella and Parmesan) in the bread crust, and a bowl of Swiss cheese fondue provided, is nothing to herald about. In fact, it makes the bread crust have a stong kind of smelly taste...lolz. But if you love cheese, go and try it! It tingled my senses, as it has kind of a smoky smell and taste. and it goes well with the Super Hawaiian selection. But overall, the bread crust is kind of dry...which is disappointing, but you can still kind of taste the cheeses.
Check out a picture of the pizza at: http://www.pizzahut.com.sg/
Well, just a note, personally, I so do not like the pizzas at Pizza Hut. But it's the only pizza brand around(in Singapore) which has ubiquitous outlets and franchising, making it accessible in Orchard Road, where my friends and I went to celebrate M's birthday on Tuesday. I prefer Canadian's pizza and I read in the papers yesterday (and learnt they're actually called Canadian 2For1 Pizza) that they now have dine-in outlets!!! At Woodlands CC, Fengshan CC (in Bedok) and Changi Village. Actually, they have one mini dine-in outlet at Pasir Panjang too (I've eaten there a couple of times).
You can now order dishes like steaks, jumbo burgers, fish 'n' chips and herb sausage. YYUM! So tell all your friends!! Support Canadian Pizza. Cuz they're the best. Especially their Meat Lover's Pizza.
Moving on,
The new Transformers movie, is, in a word, AWESOME!!
I think it's gonna be one of the best movies this year. The graphics were very awesome, and the dialogue was hilarious. The sciptwriter, director and effects guys all did a great job. I think it's like, underhyped, u know? Cuz of the kind of unknown actors and this movie being remade from a cartoon.
Don't be like me and think it's merely a movie for kids, cuz it's SO NOT!!
Guys will definitely love this show. Cuz there's lots of military AND robot action.
Tallest man and the Grand Old Dame (Nat'l Stadium)
Have u all watched the Harry Potter movie yet? I'm not watching this weekend...haha...the theatre's all probably fully booked to the dark corners so I guess i"ll watch it during this coming week...
I'm thinking of dying my hair, but I dunno if I can do it properly u know? I've tried twice, and it didn't work out, lol.
The tallest man in the world, from China, got married recently! I think he was one of the 2 who came to my school while I was in Junior College, he and another tall guy from East Europe came to my school's carnival. I thought they were fake u know? It was so surreal. They walked right past my class's booth...like...men on stilts...lolz...and they walked like, in slow motion. Like time stopped when they passed by you.
His wife is 1.68m and he is 2. something metres. And his wife was given all the Olympic mascots on stage. I wonder how those 2 met, u know? Is it a publicity stunt? Are they 2 star-crossed lovers? How long will it last....cuz tall ppl can't live that long :( So let them mate like rabbits yeah? And has there been any movie made about tall people before? I'd love to watch one. With a love story as a running plot. :)
Another local front-page news is that our government officials can't find the elusive time capsule buried somewhere in our soon-demolished National Stadium, the Old Dame. What a joke huh? No one seem to know where exactly it is, and they say it'll take them about ten days to locate it, good luck to them...*chuckles* that's where our money (the taxpayer's) are going to. *rolls eyes*
Have a Happy Weekend! Maybe you wanna catch some wakeboarding action at the Kallang River? hmmm...they're having some international competition there this weekend.
Omg. I just wore my mum's heels for the very first time today and she says I definitely look more mature. Blah. I bet guys don't experience this kind of torture.
I was lugging around my laptop and messenger bag today, slinged on one shoulder, all while shopping and it took a toll on my feet!
Heels look cool, make me feel so much taller than everyone but it's a pain to my feet!
PS: There's a big This Fashion sale beside the Sasa beauty shop on level 1 at Jurong Point shopping mall and it's definitely worth checking out!! I bought a shiny black belt with a round buckle for $1. A blue mini-skirt (2 belts included) for $10 and some other item- a green-striped top, can't really describe here. But go check out the sale, you never know what will catch your fancy. :) Anyway, summer sales are everywhere.
Yes yes, I've been spending my holidays watching dramas, dramas made in the USA and Korea! Too much of a good thing is really not good, cuz I kind of am growing tired of following one whole show which has at least 20 episodes. But I did come off wiser though- to the dawning conclusion that dramas are worth following if largely cuz of a new story for every episode and witty but not too difficult to understand but enjoyable dialogue. Throw in a little teenage angst and I'm good to go. I'm just finishing off season 1 of The OC and it has now become one of my favourite shows! You have so much going on, teen drama, issues and I admit, even the drama going on in the adults' life is riveting to watch. Not to mention, a majority of the cast has above average looks. They really have a good cast-a memorable-looking cast, not generic.
I can go on and on about each character but I would take forever so I'll just talk about the protagonist, played by Mischa Barton. I think she was really only 16 or 17 years old when she played her character who is a girl in high school. I didn't used to like Mischa, from looking at her partying ways in the media, her choice of boyfriends, her voice ( I watched a few episodes of The OC on TV before), her don't-mess-with-me expressions that's always on her face, to her fashion, hairstyle make-up . I knew she was kind of popular in the US but not as popular as Rachel Bilson, her best friend in the show. When I watched this show, my view of her took a complete turn.
Mischa can act really well, she can convey so much with her expressions, and can play her character very very well. Did I mention she's really pretty too? Like, naturally truly pretty. That's the reason why she only puts on minimal make-up, cuz she knows that her looks are already strong and beautiful enough not to hide behind coats of makeup. And she's really tall, that's why she don't wear heels, but flats.
A few days after watching a few episodes of The OC, I borrowed a magazine from the library with her featured inside. Inside, she talks about her background, how she's been acting since she was eight years old and how she grew up in England! She's actually a British! No wonder the kind of weird accent she has. She is already really trying her best to sound American. I think I would sound like her if I tried to put on an American accent. In the mag, she says, "Sometimes, I feel like a big weird conglomerate of things, you know, the English girl who moves to New York and then ends up in L.A. doing a show about Orange County. I don't think most people understand me, but I like my individuality. I'm really good at adapting to my environment, like when I moved to New York, I realised the kids were going to make fun of me for my English accent, so I just lost it." Well, I think her American accent still needs a little fine-tuning, she has to get used to sounding like a natural....but hey, she has got her acting covered. You know, I can't wait to see her acting in movies. I think she'll be great in whatever she does.
Other US shows I've been watching are Veronica Mars and Heroes. Veronica Mars is a really smart show about this high-school girl who works for her father, a Private Investigator and every week, she solves a mystery that's related either to her school or to her schoolmates. The show portrays her ways of solving crimes very realistically, and it's cool to see a girl around my age going about cleverly solving mysteries.
As for Heroes, it's interesting but too unrealistic for me. And it's one whole giant story which doesn't really make sense in the end. However, the actors are goood, which makes the show watchable. And that is why, I can't wait to go see them when they're in Singapore in August!
Korean dramas, gosh, my friend has lent me about 5 shows (My girl, Sad love story, Little Bride, Love is All Around, Smile Again) and I've only gotten around to watching the first and second for some, episodes of each show. Cuz honestly, my mum and I don't know if we'll have the energy to keep up with the shows.
I now also am considering watching the Channel 8 drama currently showing at 9pm, Switched. Cuz of the young local actors, and also with the hope that I can listen out for the Mandarin and be immersed in the Chinese language (seeing as how I suck so much in the language)! haha, yup, I don't think that's a bad idea.
Well, my family and I went to my mum's friend's new Korean restaurant, actually, more like take-over. They have been the new owners for a week already. We went on Saturday, Green day, 7 July, for dinner.
The food menu is still the same as the previous owner's (this restaurant has been around for years)same chefs. Bought them a basket of flowers in red and yellow. The barbeque food was great, rice wine, they even had cherry wine was fantastic. I drank myself silly. haha
Check them out at Tanjong Pagar, they're called New Seoul Korean Restaurant, with a big windmill picture in their posters (cuz the Korean name is Windmill).
Check out my awesome but very do-able Grrreen plan! ;)
My ten-point plan of consciously going green:
1) Reuse newspapers when cooking (as grease mats), as eating mats when dining, as ‘cloths’ to clean glass panes and mirrors, when painting or for arts and crafts. Or cut out interesting articles and pictures for future reading and uses.
When all is done, give the newspapers to the ‘Garang Guni’ (an odd-goods man who visits home at least once weekly in Singapore) man who will send them for recycling.
2) Keep plastic and glass containers after use. Eg, water bottles, jam jars, vinegar bottles. They are good storage containers. Even those cardboard cereal boxes, I can use them for art or posters.
3) Don’t easily throw away batteries, pens and papers. Even better, buy rechargeable ones.
4) Reduce usage of tissue papers, tear it as a small piece if one whole piece is not needed.
5) No shopping frivolously! (Saves money too)
6) Be conscious of how long and how much water I’m using (whether the tap is turned on at full blast).
7) No need to use air-con unless for very special occasions or unique cases. And never leave electrical appliances at the standby mode, so switch off the power outlets completely.
8) Reduce plastic bags when going shopping, bring my own bags. For your info, Singapore uses an abnormally high amount of plastic bags, when compared to other countries.
9) Put drink cans in the recycling bins at the franchised ‘Kopitiam’ food courts in Singapore. Each outlet has one. And apparently, I got this info from the Live Earth concert, one drink can can generate 3 hours of electricity! Imagine that…!
10) Pick more seashells, red love seeds (aka Saga seeds), acorns and such to remind me how beautiful nature is, and also to preserve their beauty. Haha!
Happy Green Day everyone! Be little green fr-eaks this weekend (as the world embraces this B,E,A,U,tiful colour) and join the Green madness & mania by wearing G.R.E.E.N.
I couldn't be anymore happier. lollll :D More to come tomorrow. Had a long day today
PS: The person wearing the shirt is so not me. Though I love the shirt, I don't have hairy arms. Any likeness to the person is purely coincidental ;)
Happy Green Day, everyone! :):) In other words, today is like, the unofficial-but-understood Earth day. Today also sees the inaugural Live Earth concerts around the world, for 24 hours. To show your support and hope in our (the world's) conservation efforts, wear green today and tomorrow, cuz of the later timezones in the Western countries. Be proud to be an official Greenie, as someone once named me, cuz I'm an unofficial Greenie every other day, and proud to be one (Green's my favouritest colour, if you don't know).
7th of June in the year 2007- an auspicious date for some couples and a date to be aware of for the rest of the world. It's pretty cool, cuz it will be a long time before we can get these triple sevens again. Who knows. maybe some people are busy buying these numbers for lottery draws.
Now, what's my take on 'saving the environment'?
I don't believe that the world will end with humans using the very last drop of resource(s). We human beings are more resourceful(pardon the pun) and resilient than that! Right? sure. I'd like to believe that.
But I have a stronger belief, and that belief stems from the words in the bible. It has a different take altogether on how the world would end-with one big bang, the rise of a leader-the anitichrist and wars and destruction before the arrival of God/Jesus on earth, and then there will be a New Heaven and Earth. Whew.
Ok, but then again, considering all that, and considering that ‘saving the world’ is a kind of Western hypocritical ideal when you examine it closely (they’ve been using most of the world’s resources all these years), I think it’s still our part, every single one of our part to play to minimize our usage of resources.
Thankfully, we live in a world where we don’t have to worry about a shortage of water and food. But what if your children, the younger generation, have limited resources in future? It wouldn’t be very nice for them would it?
So in essence, while we’re living on this earth, we are her Stewards. What’s that?- people who are given the responsibility to take care of the things entrusted to them.
For us Christians, we believe that ‘life on earth is a trust’. As the wonderful author Rick Warren aptly says in his book, “The Purpose Driven Life.”
Our time on earth, our resources, intelligence, opportunities, relationships etc are all gifts from God that he has entrusted to our care and management. We are stewards of whatever God gives us. And this concept begins from the recognition that God is the owner of everything and everyone on Earth. The bible says, “The world and all that is in it belong to the Lord, the earth and all who live on it are his.”
We never really own anything during our brief stay on earth. God just loans the earth to us while we’re here. It was God’s property before you arrived, and God will loan it to someone else after you die. You just get to enjoy it for a while. And if you misuse it, it starts to show birth pains, like all those so-called ‘natural disasters’ you see in the news happening every other day around the world.
The first job God gave humans was to manage and take care of God’s “stuff” on earth. This role has never been rescinded, seen otherwise.
When God created Adam and Eve (the first man and woman), he entrusted the care of his creation to them and appointed them trustees of his property. The bible says, “(God) blessed them, and said, “Have many children, so that your descendants will live all over the earth and bring it under their control. I am putting you in charge.”
Is this how you are acting now? In this age, we are driven by wealth and consumerism. Do these things really make one happy? These Live Earth concerts are to make us aware and give us hope. That we can make a difference. If we start now, it’s never too late.
The show sees all kinds of ways it is saving energy, from the lighting to the transport. The event has received lots of coverage and world attention. It has good intentions.
So let’s start doing our part. If you haven’t been consciously doing so already.
Kbox Chinatown. The land of old people, and some old man perverts. So anyway, we tried the afternoon promotion, which says it's $9+++(student rate) on its website. Turns out, each person paid $15.70. Now you roughly know how much +++ means. :P
Girls just wanna have fun.
M's sandals rock. She just got it from China, Beijing and she says she got it for $10 (Singapore dollars). from a mall.
L was caught snacking all by herself....! lolz. I caught her unawares. hahaha
Too bad there's no Jason Mraz songs!!! sighss...at all. Well, enjoy the real Jason on my jukebox player :) Check out 'Plane'. It's my favourite track off his 2nd album. LOVE the lyrics.
I am up in my arms over trying to fully peruse the language books which I have borrowed from the library!
Sigh....learning languages is a long-term thing, even when you are only trying to learn beginner's stuff.
Maybe I'm a little too ambitious? I now have Spanish, German, French and Korean books stacked up on my desk....I have already(only?) started on Spanish. And I now know how to pronounce 'Tijuana' after watching an episode of The OC today. It makes sense. haha!
Immersing, immerse, immerse(ing) myself with other languages, and in time to come, slowly but surely, things will start to sound with a little more sense.
PS: Mad, thanks for lending me all those Korean dramas! It has certainly been useful to hear Korean everyday. :)....
PPS: 5 hours of Karaoke session tomorrow with L&M! I'm doing a facial thing first tomorrow, courtesy of my friend L, who insists on doing one for me....wish me luck! I'll try to post up some pics..
Ah hah ha! bring out the champagne! Down with the smokers! As of yesterday, smoking is banned in bars and clubs in Singapore, except in designated smoking rooms and corners, or they could be fined a maximum of $1,000 or face up to six months' jail or both.
I haven't really stepped in a club proper before (only for concert), but I heard the norm/the culture is that it is smoky, and dim.
Second-hand smoke is more deadly than the puffs a smoker takes. So I fully support this move!
My neighbours both upstairs and downstairs puff at their windows and shamelessly throw their ashes down. and I can smell them from a mile away. I cough loudly and curse at the windowside whenever I smell them.
I have confronted my smoker neighbour at my old home before. He had a toddler and denied throwing ashes down, saying he makes full use of his ash trays at home. That liar.
I have put home-made 'pamphlets' in my neighbours' mailbox before....hehe...ask me more about it.
Singapore had long banned smoking at bus shelters too! But they(smokers) still can't stop themselves when it's raining and think lighting up and puffing away at a ciggie will keep themselves warm....geez. I have asked a smoker ex-colleague about this before when I was doing my internship and he said, a ciggie does NOT keep one warm. It's just an exuse.
My dad said he just quit smoking one day(I don't really believe he quit that fast). He was a heavy smoker (smoked at least 1 pack a day) in his 20s. Kudos to him!
Are smoke-breaks at the office-place fair to non-smokers??
Smoking stinks. Smoking sucks. Every puff kills.
PS: Yesterday also saw England's ban on smoking in offices, pubs and restaurants.
ooh lala, I just 'messed up' an entry for Jason Mraz at wikipedia. Cuz he gave us permission to. lolz! in his latest blog entry at: Myspace.com/Jason Mraz...
Here's what I wrote:
"Jason has a thing for blonde Swedish tarts and rumor has it that he lives there in Sweden with his blonde wife, shaggy green cat and horny yellow dog."
and
"Mraz is an amazing writer who updates his blog frequently, with his poetic language. Check out his page at: Http://myspace.com/jasonmraz. He is truly a writer in his own league. Reportedly, this talented singer-musician/songwriter/ aspires to win a Pulitzer Prize for online journalism."
Bought tickets online for half price. Two for $150 + $5 car delivery fee
So Christina came and left. Her concert is really world class! Lots of costume changes, dance routines, props....and flawless singing. And by flawless I really mean flawless! So we(my mum and I) suspects that she was lip-synching for most or all of the songs. Her best songs were Candyman, Fighter....though the whole show was very polished...you didn't expect anything else. I definitely wanna buy the tour DVD when it's out. As usual, the sound system at the Indoor stadium sucks. It was noisy, kind of echo-y, especially for one of the songs(can't remember which one, I wasn't familiar with that song), it was terrible-you could only hear Christina's voice singing (ah ha! now I'm quite sure it was a recorded voice!), while the music/melody was a senseless cacophony of noises-it was really a noisy din. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE INDOOR STADIUM? MAYBE IT REALLY NEEDS SOME UPGRADING-LIKE WHAT THE NAIONAL STADIUM IS GETTING, A FULL MAKEOVER.
There are so many distractions when you attend a concert, so many things are going on onstage, you can't catch everything, you wanna take pictures or videos and then you wanna have a good time by standing up and rocking to the music. Where I was sitting, I could only see the action from the big screens. I couldn't see how the dancers were dancing and what Christina was doing, only that she was walking to this side of the stage or that. The cameraman only focused on her throughout the show. He sucks man.....he should have panned out the view more, show us the musicians and dancers. So we less ticket holders were left to just take in the ambience. Well, a least I brought binoculars....
I met this 13 yr old Spanish girl called Lara who got a free ticket from one of the crew (she was only staying around to get autographs for her older sister in Spain, Lara had bought two Christina tour booklets at a nearby booth costing $25 each for Christina to sign on). My mum and I, a couple of guys and Lara were the last few hanging around the backstage entrance hoping that Christina would come out to sign some autographs before the show started, actually, I didn't know Christina arrived already.....only when I asked Lara did she tell me Christina had already long arrived in a car but she was hoping that the singer would pop out for a few minutes to meet fans. But Christina didn't. And hey, Lara got a free ticket from this Ang Moh guy in a blonde ponytail with a Christina pass lanyard hanging around his neck. He was also willing to change his tickets with my mum and I but I saw that the seats were about the same, so we declined.
And Christina left quickly together with the president after the show, at the VIP entrance (got this info from security while I was wastedly waiting at the backstage entrance again after the show). Christina didn't even have an autograph-meet-the-fans-session in Singapore! Her flight arrival was kept hush-hush, she exited through a secret way at the airport. One fan at the concert venue (before the concert started) joked that he couldn't even catch a glimpse of Christina's shadow in Singapore.
You know what, I now conclude that I'll go see only rock bands in future, cuz they're more spontaneous and have more fun/interaction with the audience and their music is superb 'live', like Good Charlotte was. I was blown away at their concert, and I was seating behind, mind you. lolz.
Well, now I would only go to polished concerts if I have complimentary tickets. :) The next major concert is Gwen Stefani's Sweet Escape tour on August 14. and again, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
PS: My photos are shit but stilll...haha. I had to post 'em!
PPS: Yes, she definitely looks pregnant. Especially visible in her first song. Everything was skinny and petite except her belly.
