I'm back! thoughts on JB and more...
In the morning, we has at least a 5km walk as we wanted to 'explore' JB a bit...we came across a shopping mall called 'Waterfront City' and my dad told us that apparently, Malaysia wanted to build this mall to be megahuge and to compete with Singapore or something, but the project failed because of corruption and all. In fact, we saw quite a lot of buildings in JB which were half-finished. anyway, I was really hoping the building, called 'Lot 1, waterfront City' would be open and that we could chill out inside, with aircon, but it turns out the whole bloody place was deserted. It was eerie. One huge shopping mall super deserted. There were 'Marybrown's' and 'Kenny Roger's' billboards in front of the building but there was no life going on, so we just took a look at the facade of the building for a few seconds and continued walking. under the hot sun. whao. in a black shirt. i was a mobile heater. like seriously, NEVER wear a black shirt if you plan to walk around outdoors. and my black shirt was sleeveless. It didn't help.
Then we went back to City Square mall.
So I watched The Reaping, which stars Hilary Swank and I watched Catch and Release too, starring Jennifer Garner and a bunch of unknown actors...

I give both movies 3 1/2 stars...The Reaping would definitely interest Christians out there. there's a freaking twist in the end, which lifted the movie. the movie pacing is kind of slow, but there are some special effects at the end, which was quite a satisfying climax, though it was quite short.
As for Catch and Release, it is a movie with heart, with good intentions. The plot is very simple, about a woman whose fiance dies while out on a fishing trip and she finds out that he had a child with another woman behind her back, and she falls in love with his good-for-nothing but supposedly good looking best friend after that. I think the sex scenes are a bit stupid and redundant to the story at times, and the male lead is amatuerish but the movie makes you think. I wish there was more plot development though! If you're looking for some action, this is not a movie to watch, it leans on the 'boring' side, but it addresses issues of how people fall in love. Well, i'm glad to catch a movie which hasn't been released in Singapore yet:) haha!
and at least i didn't watch a stupid movie like Shooter which my whole family wanted to watch. I don't like mark Wahlberg. I think he's ugly. and watch a movie which kills kills kills? please. Give me a brainy movie anytime!
