So Christina came and left. Her concert is really world class! Lots of costume changes, dance routines, props....and flawless singing. And by flawless I really mean flawless! So we(my mum and I) suspects that she was lip-synching for most or all of the songs. Her best songs were Candyman, Fighter....though the whole show was very polished...you didn't expect anything else. I definitely wanna buy the tour DVD when it's out. As usual, the sound system at the Indoor stadium sucks. It was noisy, kind of echo-y, especially for one of the songs(can't remember which one, I wasn't familiar with that song), it was terrible-you could only hear Christina's voice singing (ah ha! now I'm quite sure it was a recorded voice!), while the music/melody was a senseless cacophony of noises-it was really a noisy din. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE INDOOR STADIUM? MAYBE IT REALLY NEEDS SOME UPGRADING-LIKE WHAT THE NAIONAL STADIUM IS GETTING, A FULL MAKEOVER.
There are so many distractions when you attend a concert, so many things are going on onstage, you can't catch everything, you wanna take pictures or videos and then you wanna have a good time by standing up and rocking to the music. Where I was sitting, I could only see the action from the big screens. I couldn't see how the dancers were dancing and what Christina was doing, only that she was walking to this side of the stage or that. The cameraman only focused on her throughout the show. He sucks man.....he should have panned out the view more, show us the musicians and dancers. So we less ticket holders were left to just take in the ambience. Well, a least I brought binoculars....
I met this 13 yr old Spanish girl called Lara who got a free ticket from one of the crew (she was only staying around to get autographs for her older sister in Spain, Lara had bought two Christina tour booklets at a nearby booth costing $25 each for Christina to sign on). My mum and I, a couple of guys and Lara were the last few hanging around the backstage entrance hoping that Christina would come out to sign some autographs before the show started, actually, I didn't know Christina arrived already.....only when I asked Lara did she tell me Christina had already long arrived in a car but she was hoping that the singer would pop out for a few minutes to meet fans. But Christina didn't. And hey, Lara got a free ticket from this Ang Moh guy in a blonde ponytail with a Christina pass lanyard hanging around his neck. He was also willing to change his tickets with my mum and I but I saw that the seats were about the same, so we declined.
And Christina left quickly together with the president after the show, at the VIP entrance (got this info from security while I was wastedly waiting at the backstage entrance again after the show). Christina didn't even have an autograph-meet-the-fans-session in Singapore! Her flight arrival was kept hush-hush, she exited through a secret way at the airport. One fan at the concert venue (before the concert started) joked that he couldn't even catch a glimpse of Christina's shadow in Singapore.
You know what, I now conclude that I'll go see only rock bands in future, cuz they're more spontaneous and have more fun/interaction with the audience and their music is superb 'live', like Good Charlotte was. I was blown away at their concert, and I was seating behind, mind you. lolz.
Well, now I would only go to polished concerts if I have complimentary tickets. :) The next major concert is Gwen Stefani's Sweet Escape tour on August 14. and again, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
PS: My photos are shit but stilll...haha. I had to post 'em!
PPS: Yes, she definitely looks pregnant. Especially visible in her first song. Everything was skinny and petite except her belly.
