so on Thursday I had my club duties as usual and I am proud to say, I finally managed to fill almost the whole show with Jason Mraz songs. Yeah. The thing is, since I'm a newbie, I don't want to break the rules by playing songs which are not included in the DJing computer. And since there are NO Mraz songs in the computer, I included quite a few 'live' songs of Jason (cuz 'live' songs are not really copyrighted you know?). I played The Remedy first, cuz people know him most for that song. It sounded really good. And my partner was so efficient in switching to play the next song, I'm Yours, near the end of The Remedy, cuz some Ang Moh DJ speaks at the end of the song. Kudos to Nigel. The last song was a a fantastic live version of his song 0% Interest with a medley of Our House (madness cover), Where Is the Love (black eyed peas cover) and Mi Casa Su Casa (a spanish song cover). And I'm starting to notice that his songs are very spiritual-sounding & world musical-ly 'live', which so rocks (sorry, I had to say this, cuz this is my personal J music experience.)
Only 3 songs were played, cuz the show is only half an hour, and we had two talk-sets in between. So yeah. I think Jason kicked ass out there on the airwaves on Thursday. I bet he really got people's interest in just those 3 songs. Jason is all about 'live'. It's one of his specialties (don't get me started!). I wish I could play only Jason songs for every show, but I guess I'd be irritating people, overloading them with too much Jason. :P So instead, I'm deciding to end off the show with a Jason song every week.
Anyway anyway, moving on to how my day went today. I got back 2 tests. The first was my Sociology MCQ test. I was anticipating to do pretty well in it. Considering I spent 45 minutes doing it and another 45 checking over my answers (I really wanted to score well)on that test day. My teacher gave back the test results to us in alphabetical order, in the pretty packed lecture theatre. And the girl beside me happened to get her paper back earlier than me. I saw she got 41/50. Whao. "That's a good score. I think I'll get a similar grade", I thought. Well, when I finally got my result slip, it was ok, just not like, a super mark. And I felt a little crushed. I smsed my friend my result and told her how I felt cuz she knew how much hope, correction, how much faith I had in this test. And then waited for the teacher to finish giving out the results to everyone else. He took quite some time to finish. And all the time there, i was fidgety over this unexpected transition time. Remember those books I borrowed from the library? Well, the Time Management book talks about Transition Times and making use of them. What especially struck me about what it said was, if you consciously add up all your Transition Times in a week, it's a lot. Lecture soon ended and I went off to look through my answers for the MCQ test. When I looked through all the answers I made, i didn't feel so bad, cuz my grade is what I am, it rightly is like this. Then I got the reply from my friend, she said, "Don't worry about it! Cuz you know you did your best right?" And it is soooo true.
It's just like the result for my German test I got back a little later on. I did only marginally better than the previous German test. This is my standard, it's cuz of how much I studied or didn't study, that I got what I did. Anyway, I wasn't too bothered about my German cuz I'm all about interested in the learning process and experience & progress when learning languages, hence I'm not so much hung up about test results and such.
And then I met up with my friend too. And like she commented, "Girls can talk about anything." SO true, we talked about anything and everything. Haha. Our lunch took so long, and those bored hawkers kept looking at us -_-. and then, we went jogging! There's such a nice park and jogging track behind my friend's house...and we were talking all the way, no matter how freaking out of breath I sounded while jogging and trying to speak...it was nutty. Yay, at least I've thrown in exercise this week.
Alright, today also happens to be the last day of school. I had 3 lectures today, I'm glad I didn't skip any. It's late, i should be tired, but for some reason I'm not. Ah well, it doesn't matter. I can fall asleep in a snap. I Heart Naps, didn't you see the bumper sticker in my Facebook?
Affirmation to self: I will, make good use of tomorrow onwards.
I hope you have a meaningful weekend too :)It's time to relax, if you don't have exams coming up like me. Just to let you know, I never ever study much during weekends. But only for the 'major-exams period' of course, but THAT'S it. Don't be a workaholic. ;)
In the meantime, check out this vid my friend showed me today!! Kittens in earthenware pots. One of the cutest thing ever.
