Looking back on 2008
One year has officially passed, and it is that time again when we can look back and examine the events which had took place, for better or for the worse. Shockingly, the first half of last year seemed like so long ago, maybe it's because I try to unconsciously/consciously erase it off as nothing significant.
I look back on the periods in my year in phases.
For example, from Jan-May, it is the first semester in school. My life revolves around projects, assignments, groupmates, and club activities. Ho-hum. Nothing significant happened??
From June-August, it is the summer break (3 whole months! How did I spend that whole chunk of time? It seems like a black hole of vacuum!) One thing I do remember was that great great 10-day road trip which I went on for the very first time with my Korean maternal uncle and grandfather. It will be something which I will not forget for a long time to come. (I may even do a delayed blogging of it)
August-Dec, 2nd semester of school. I learnt that I can be extremely lazy if I procrastinate, and procrastinate. Until I missed a lot of deadlines, even a driving lesson, which costs $70. I had submitted a couple of school papers way past the due dates. It was the first time I have done that.
I did not do a whole lot of readings, so much that when exams came, I was utterly dismayed, I sighed, and then I took a deep breath and plunged hungrily into my paltry stack of mostly-unperused lecture notes.
I skipped a lot of lectures too, being complacent that I could better use the time for self-study. Or even make up for it via the delayed webcasts. Kinda a big mistake to have presumed that.
At this point, you can already see where my New Year's resolutions are leading to.
I also did join 2 martial arts clubs. I'm still trying hard to adapt the techniques of one, while I'm learning to endure the demanding sessions of the other and try not to feel faint so many times.
Very importantly, I started taking driving lessons! I
can't wait to start driving to school and around the country(s).
Dec-Jan (where did time fly again??) Attended an awesome martial arts camp. I <3 physical sports after all.
Had a holiday in Turkey where I did loads and loads of reflecting and musing (there is so much time to do so, especially in the hotel rooms) , and enjoyed myself from the easy company and the fascinating foreign environment.
Got myself some sweet rollerblades!
I turned 21! I'm officially now neither young, nor old. What an exciting position to be in yes? (I have yet to catch my first R21 film. Any ideas?)
