WOMAD rocks. really.
Go catch WOMAD (world of music, arts & dance) at the Fort Canning Hill. It's a music festival imported from the UK, I think. Tomorrow's the last day.
I attended the preview (for my radio club, to review the event) at my school campus on Wednesday and only have some time off to give the event a shout-out now. ^^
WOMAD 2007 ROCKS. The music is sooo good. Really world standard. Even 2 people (a father and son act from Iran. the boy is only 13 years old i think) can make themselves sound so good with merely a drum and a bagpipe. Thoroughly entertaining. Throughly enjoyable.
Another act is Shooglenifty. 6 guys in the band, 5 of whom play stringed instruments, and they play fast (Scottish & electronica) music, and they synchronise SO darn well. And you can go on stage and dance with them too (half the theatre in the fully-packed UCC theatre were).
Not forgetting, the acoustics and sound system at my school was darn good, so the whole experience was fantastic (and mind-blowing!). It's the best sound I've heard in a while, can't even compare to the pathetic Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Verdict: World music is good for your soul.
