Nature and food= fun
I had initially planned to go to Sentosa beach today, for some sun and fun playing volleyball and Frisbee. Out of the 5 friends I asked, only 2 were free. Out of this 2, only 1 was willing to spend a morning at the beach as a trio, and so sadly, I couldn’t go on with my planned outing. Some organizer I am. I knew I couldn’t expect much, since I only started asking them to make their morning free today, yesterday evening. I myself always hate it when people ask me out at the eleventh hour because for me, it wouldn’t give me enough time to flatter and assure my mum, so to speak.
So anyway….my dad drove us out to East Coast today. I admit, I was pretty concerned about the friggin sun clearly shining down its light at that time. Ever since I was 15 and had given up on Netball, I used to hate sports because of all the sweat involved. I’ve somewhat learnt to put aside that stupid excuse now.
Today however, I was more afraid that I’d sweat profusely, because the weather has been very hot lately, one can feel the heat even when you’re shaded and just chilling under a sheltered place. Anyway, I downed a Crunch ice-cream (I got from 7-11) and was good to go. It must have been all that chocolate in my blood. Ok, the weather wasn’t bad at all. Yeah, there were sunny spots here and there down the path, but for the most part, it was shaded, because there are loads of trees lined along the paths at East Coast, AND, there was the sea breeze going on for us, so, no problemo. The problem was…me. I could hardly believe that I was actually panting and feeling breathless every 15 minutes or so. Luckily, nobody was around to witness my humiliating breathing problems (except my parents, but they were busy on their bike and always in front of me). OMG, am I really that unfit? It was a pretty weird experience for me, because I have no idea why I would feel breathless rollerblading….I have never felt that way before…maybe it was all that chocolate messing with my mind and body. I bladed while my parents shared the couple bike, awww. I went the furthest I ever went on the East Coast paths today, which was somewhere after the sports center.
While blading today, I thought to myself, “Honestly, there’s no better way to spend the weekend (especially if the weather’s great) than out, doing some sports.” Like rollerblading, hehe. To hell with staying indoors shopping and whatnot. Have some fun with nature and manmade concrete. That’s the way to spend every of my weekends if I had the choice to. Speaking of which, I read a book on happiness recently, saying that nature absorbs one’s negativity. That’s one of the reasons why people love receiving flowers, or talking to plants.
It was a little after 7pm when I returned my blades and I heard and saw 4 fighter planes, and a chopper flying pretty low, flying a huge Singapore flag. I found out that the National Day Parade folks are doing rehearsals every weekend till the actual day itself.
At night, we dropped by IMM and my parents bought like, 4 bottles of wine. Cheap wine obviously, at $11 each at Giants hypermart. Speaking of wine, I mentioned reading a book on happiness recently. Inside, they were talking about how food can maintain or elevate one’s mood and all. One of the points it mentioned was drinking a glass of wine every night does wonders, or something like that. So I’ve been doing that for two consecutive nights already, and I found out I get knocked out when I go to bed, and that I can’t hear the alarm clock and don’t have dreams at all, till morning comes. The book didn’t tell me anything about the ‘side effects’. Geez. Coming off from Giants, my brother and I had went mad. Because our parents told us to choose our breakfast items tomorrow, since my dad normally cooks breakfast on Sundays, and my mum does not cook at all for the rest of the week, so this was one of the few times we got to buy food. And today, my dad told us to walk off and choose what things we wanted him to cook tomorrow, as he was weighed down by those 4 bottles of wine and could only wait around for us, haha. So along the way to the frozen foods aisle, my bro and I had picked up chocolates, nuts and whatnot. And at the ff aisle, we put a little of everything in our basket.
Our total charges for those wines+breakfast items+snacks was: $104. Zomg. But seriously, Giants is a pretty awesome place to get goods at very decent prices. :D
PS: IMM lets cars park at their carpark for free for the first 3 hours, and they have opened so many more shops, so it’s quite a good place to go shopping, if I do say so myself.
PPS: Giants had the Coffee Prince Korean drama DVD, going for $9.90!! Woot. No more trying to load all the parts to watch at mysoju.com.
